Primal Workout FAQ  

What is Primal Workout?
Primal Workout is a group exercise program based on highly effective, natural movement patterns (squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, bending and twisting). It focuses on improving all aspects of your health and fitness. It is designed to increase aerobic fitness, strength and tone, reduce body fat, improve balance, stability and flexibility and to teach you how to make healthy lifestyle choices. The interval style training makes the program suitable for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced. Sessions go for approximately 1 hour. The program is run outside at Centennial Park, the Botanical Gardens, Narrabeen Lake and Balmoral over a 10- 12 week period together with nutrition and lifestyle advice to help you get real results. You can choose to train from one to three times per week and you can also extend your program by joining our Trek Fitness Program (Recommended as one of the top five workouts in Sydney, Sydney Morning Herald, 26-30 May 2008)

Can I go to any of the session times?
The idea is that you choose your preferred session time. if however you cannot make your regular session, you will be able to join an alternate session time that week but you will need to book this session in to ensure that there is availability


Do I need to be fit to join Primal Workout?
No - that's why you are coming to us! You will receive a comprehensive lifestyle questionnaire to help identify your appropriate exercise level. On day one of the course you will also take part in an initial fitness assessment so that we can adjust our program to suit all participants. In group sessions participants will train using interval and circuit style principles so that participants can train at their individual optimal levels

What sort of results will I get?
Primal Workout is a holistic exercise program that is designed to improve all aspects of your health. The physical benefits include increased fitness (cardio) levels, reduced body fat, improved balance, stability and flexibility and increased muscle strength and tone. The comprehensive questionnaire will help you make long term healthy lifestyle choices

When does the next course run?
Primal Workout starts approximately every 3 months. The next course commences on Monday 19th April. You may join the Primal Workout Program at any time on a pro-rata payment basis

Where do we meet?
In Centennial Park we meet by the woods at Lachlan Reserve. To get there, drive down Dickens Drive through the centre of Centennial Park, cross over the intersection with Parkes Drive and continue along Dickens Drive. Park about 100 metres after the intersection near the toilet block - the meeting spot is by the woods on the right hand side of Dickens Drive

In the Botanical Gardens we meet on the grass at the top of the big steps at Mrs Macquarie's Chair

In the Domain we meet across the road from the Art Gallery of New South Wales

At Curl Curl we meet just to the north of South Curl Curl Surf Lifesave Club. See the video below for further details:

 

At Balmoral Beach, we meet at the entrance to the car park at the south end of the beach near the oval.

 

How is Primal Workout different to other fitness programs?

  • Primal Workout focuses on improving all aspects of your health and fitness
  • Primal Workout is designed to help you achieve long term health improvements rather than promising unrealistic “quick fixes”
  • Although Primal Workout is a group program, the training and advice is individualised so that you have a safe and effective program to help you prepare for your individual goal
  • Your instructors will challenge and motivate you physically, mentally and emotionally
  • Primal Workout is strictly limited to a maximum of 8 people per session

What do I bring to my first session?

The first session of the program is a fitness assessment. Please make sure that you are wearing clothes that you feel comfortable training in and trainers. Please also bring your signed medical profile form and your completed lifestyle questionnaire. If you have answered yes to any of the questions on the medical profile form, are male and over the age of 45 or female and over the age of 55, you should also bring a signed letter from your health care practitioner clearing you for aerobic and resistance training. You should also bring a towel and a bottle of water. Please make sure you are properly hydrated and It is best not to have eaten within two hours of the session.You must be a member of Natural High Health & Fitness to take part in the Primal Workout Program.The annual membership fee is $80 and this includes a complementary Lifestyle Consultation (valued at $100).
